My month in photos – April

“April showers bring May flowers”

Some of our April showers were snow showers! We went from sitting outside at lunch one week to going to back to arctic temperatures the next! The joys of Scotland…I love it really.Well, April was another jam packed month. It kicked off well with our first gig together, we went to see Chvrches at the Hydro. I wasn’t too sure what I would think of the Hydro as a venue, I’m used to going to much smaller places, but it was a great gig! The Twilight Sad were supporting and they were pretty awesome too. A bit of a different support act from the last time I saw Chvrches!  We made a bit of a weekend of it and stayed at a hotel in Glasgow which meant food and beer before the gig and brunch at Bread Meats Bread on the Sunday.

April saw another first for us, my boyfriend and I ran our first 10k together last month too.  Mark signed up to run with me and he did pretty much all the way round, he even stopped and waited for me when I had to tie my shoelace (anyone who runs will see this is a big deal, you don’t stop for anyone if you are running for a time). I was a bit gutted with my time but it was good running it together and Mark even let me cross the finish line first so I had a better time than him (even if it was by 1 second!).

I love going to the cinema, so our Saturday morning cinema date at the Hippodrome in Bo’ness was great. We went to see Miss Hokusai, the story of the daughter of the painter of The Great Wave of Kanagawa. The Hippodrome is a proper old school cinema that still has balcony seating and a red velvet curtain, plus it is super cheap if you go on a Saturday morning! We pretty much had the place to ourselves, there were only a few other people in there. Also, it gave it us the perfect excuse to eat popcorn for breakfast!

We decided to mix up dinner one night with our very own Ready Steady Cook. It was a lot of fun and as I was the cook I really had to get my thinking cap on when I was given the ingredients.  You can see the results here, it was pretty tasty even if I do say so.  Another foodie night was had when we went to Revolution Bar in Edinburgh to check out their new menu.  The food was yummy, especially the dessert which you can read about in my review.

More walking and more exploring Fife took place last month, we went to Pillars of Hercules for a walk and a look round the organic farm shop. It is nice to get out and get some fresh air, despite the cold weather, and it was a good opportunity to take some outfit photos which will be on the blog soon.

My blog turned 3 at the end of last month! I can’t believe that I have been writing this for 3 years now!
