My week of outfits.

It’s been a while since I’ve put up an outfit post. I take #ootd photos almost every day for my Instagram though so thought I would try making a blog post out of them for a change.

After a lot of walking in Manchester last weekend left my feet pretty much destroyed! I was seriously concerned I wouldn’t be able to find any shoes I could walk in for work last week! A pit stop in Livingston to hit the Nike outlet store on the way home allowed me to pick up a pair of trainers that were super comfy. And ones that I also thought I could style up for work appropriate outfits.

I really love these black and white gingham trousers, they were definitely a great purchase. The light blue shirt is from Peacocks. A nice pop of colour next to the black and white.

Culottes are the perfect summer workwear. I’m not quite ready to get my milk bottle white pins out just yet. These show just enough leg to be summery without blinding everyone as the sun reflects off them! Teamed with a simple white tee, a statement necklace and my trusty leather jacket.

Wednesdays mean pink right?! I wore my culottes for a second day again with a pretty simple top – ruffles and stripes. Winning combo as far as I’m concerned. And of course, the aforementioned Nike trainers.

Do you ever find a style you love so much you buy it in every colour you can? Yup, me too. I swapped my pink culottes for black ones. The shirt is from Primark last year, it’s lasted surprising well considering it was so cheap. A denim jacket is perfect for summer and thankfully my work isn’t too strict about dress code. You can’t see my feet, but I do have my trainers on!

Friday

Dress down Friday. I assume. I’ve never actually been told that at work, but also never been told it isn’t. So Friday means jeans. I recently got this biker jacket from New Look, another great addition to my summer wardrobe and it goes with everything. My feet are pretty much healed at this point but these trainers are so comfy… Definitely the sign of getting old!

Saturday

Dressing my age as always! We headed round to friends on Saturday night so obviously, I decided to wear my most grown-up clothes. I don’t dress my age but I really don’t care. Frilly socks make me smile! Our friends only live a five-minute walk away so I decided to risk it with my Vans and my feet survived!

I actually thought I’d find it pretty hard to style a whole week around a pair of shoes. These Nike trainers aren’t too sporty looking so they actually went ok with my work clothes. As a shoe addict, it was a bit hard sticking to only one pair for the whole week though!

Life has been a bit busy recently.

I’ve gone from having more time than I knew what to do with to being super busy!

We took these photos last month. I’ve struggled to find the time to edit them and think about content for a post. I thought I would give a wee life update as a bit has changed recently, my time has got a load more precious for one thing! After almost a year of redundancy, I started a new job last month. Towards the end of last year, I was starting to feel really down about my lack of a job. It’s a funny thing. When you have a job there are days when you think “how amazing would be to not have to work?” Well, it’s not really that amazing in reality. The lack of money is the obvious thing, but the lack of human interaction is another one.

I had almost given up all hope of finding a marketing job. In December I had two interviews – one for a PA job and one for a marketing job in Stirling. I thought I had no chance of getting the marketing job and that maybe I would be offered the PA one. Amazingly I got offered the marketing one!

I had the first couple of weeks of January to enjoy my last wee while of unemployment. But in all honesty, I was just desperate to get started. So I’m back into the world of working. Back to commuting. Back to feeling tired. And I feckin’ love it! What I don’t love is being a newbie. I always seem to forget how tiring it is learning new stuff. I’ve been knackered for the last month! I’m travelling to Stirling every day which actually isn’t too bad. Mark and I travel together as I pass his work on the way to mine. So I don’t have to do the whole drive by myself!

My new job partly consists of social media updates, writing press releases and proofreading/editing. I can’t actually believe I’m getting paid to sit on social media every day! Quite often with something you’ve wanted so badly, it’s a disappointment. This isn’t one of those times. As well as social media being part of my job, the people are nice and I get a free gym membership. Win for me!

As well as a new job, plans are well underway for the next blogger event – Instagram. We had a rebrand at the start of the year too and we’ve changed from Edinburgh Blogger Conference to Braw Blogger Events. I haven’t managed to be as involved this time as I was with the other ones. With starting my job my brain capacity hasn’t been quite as much. And me and Taryn have some pretty exciting things planned for this year. Turns out maybe 2018 will be the year I hoped 2017 was going to be. It’s certainly starting better, and bagging my dream job is a massive part of this.

All the red.

Could I be wearing more red?! I’ve teamed my red coat and boots with a cute tee from Simply Be for my second look.

Photo of white t-shirt with the word "Paris" in red and a gold heart

I love this t-shirt! The red and gold go perfectly and I couldn’t resist but team it with my new red coat. I got the coat from Primark, it was a total steal, and how amazing is the shade?! The thing I love about the tee is the flash of gold means you can wear it as a bit more dressy. But it still works just as well as a casual top.

These photos were taken a few weeks ago on a Sunday morning. I took photos of a couple of outfits on that morning so it meant a quick change in the car…! And it was a very quick change, because it was freezing! I teamed the t-shirt with my Levi’s again, seriously loving them so much. Also, I chucked on a pair of red boots that I’ve had for years.

I was very close to throwing these very red boots out, well actually attempt to sell them on eBay, a couple of years ago. But like many things I plan to sell on eBay, they sat in a bag for a while and I eventually moved them to mine from my Mum’s about a month ago. I’d forgotten how comfy they were and I actually quite like them with my jeans. Saying this, I have so many pairs of shoes and boots this might be their only wear this winter.

There were a lot of dog walkers out this Sunday morning, and of course me not being a huge dog person (to clarify, I’m actually afraid of dogs rather than not liking them) meant that they were attracted to me! Made the photo taking experience a bit more interesting.

Sunday morning blog photos.

I think this is possibly the first time I’ve ever done this. Got up early on a Sunday, solely with the purpose of taking blog photos.

Mark and I are pretty busy over the next couple of weeks so I had to try and squeeze in some photos this weekend. It was freezing, I mean really freezing! I had the fun job of scraping the car before we could set off. On Saturday night after the rugby we stayed at my Mum’s, so it worked out nicely that we could take the opportunity to get some photos in my very pretty (not at all biased) home town of Linlithgow. My first location choice was Linlithgow Palace but it was crazy busy, however luckily there’s no shortage of pretty places.

I was contacted a couple of weeks ago by Simply Be looking to do a collaboration with me. I’m not going to lie, my first thoughts on the email were “but I’m not plus size”. After this initial thought, I remembered that their adverts state they start at size 12. As a size 10-12 I thought I would definitely find some stuff on the website. And actually, some of their pieces do even start at size 10. What’s more, they are really nice and affordable.

I absolutely love this faux fur jacket! It’s so soft and the perfect shade of blue. Described as navy, although it’s not the shade of navy where you’re debating whether it’s black or blue so it would go equally as well with a pair of black skinnies as my light blue Levi’s. I teamed the jacket and jeans combo with a silver glittery jumper, and these fabulous silver glitter boots. I’ve had these boots about a year now. It was almost as if a magnetic force pulled me towards them when I saw them in the shop. I needed these in my life. Sunday was the first time I wore them…story of my life!

This outfit would be perfect for lunch and drinks during December. The jumper is just the right amount of glittery to be festive while being subtle at the same time. I added my worn, and very ripped Levi’s because sometimes it’s nice to not wear skinny jeans. Also, I really like the look of jeans that are considered more casual with a heeled boot.

Silver glittery heeled bootsI was actually surprised at how cosy the jacket is. Normally as the temperature drops at this time of year I opt for a longer coat but even with the shorter length this one still keeps you warm.

Simply Be have some really great going out tops, coats and dresses. All perfect for the party season. Whether you need some all out sparkle for your Christmas night out, or are looking for something to smarten up your jeans for lunch or a trip to the Christmas market, they have you sorted. And as with most retailers this Friday (24.11) they will have some Black Friday deals so you can bag that perfect party dress with money off. Which always makes shopping more fun!

This is the first look in a series I have for you this week. Keep an eye on my social media and the blog for more.

I freakin’ love autumn!

The thought of summer excites me but in Scotland you only really have the thought of summer. Every year I just end up looking forward to the end of it and the point when it becomes acceptable to wear black tights again.

There’s so much to love about autumn. The cool, crisp weather. The leaves turning the most amazing red and orange colours and falling off the trees. The fallen leaves crunching under your feet. Pumpkin spice lattes. And another great thing is getting to shop for new clothes, cosy knits, boots and winter coats!

I’ve put together a few bits that I’m loving right now and that are perfect for autumn and winter!

Dr Martens Adrian Smooth loafer – since getting my Dr Martens Chelsea boots last year I’ve been coveting another pair of Docs, probably helped by the fact I didn’t get the crippling pain I was expecting while breaking them in. I have loved the look of Docs for years but lacked the confidence to wear them. These are perfectly my style, I love giving a cute dress or skirt a bit of an edge with a pair of not so pretty shoes.

Fat Face Leia denim pinafore – one of the great things about autumn is getting to dig the tights back out again. A lot of the time during the “warmer” months I’m a jeans and tee kinda girl and denim is such an easy casual thing to wear. Therefore a denim dress for the winter is a no brainer. The thing I love about a pinafore is that much like jeans, you can pair it with different tops to make different outfits. This dress with a black polo neck, tights and boots is the perfect cosy look.

Boden red and white Breton top – so it may be known that I’m a sucker for a breton tee. I honestly don’t know why I’m so drawn to them, I think it’s maybe just cause they’re an easy go to and it doesn’t look as plain as a white top with jeans. I’m not sure my obsession will ever end but I feel like I maybe need to mix up the colours a bit so I own more than black and white ones. I love the colour on this and it’s definitely a way for me to wear a bit more red (and also look like Where’s Wally while I’m at it).

New Look Black Floral Brocade Heeled Boots – I’m so glad embroidery is still on trend! These boots are amazing and the perfect way to dress up a pair of skinny black jeans.

New Look Red Longline Collared Coat – I normally go for a black winter coat but this is lovely. I’m a big fan of the bold colour and it would make a nice change from my usual black or grey.

New Look Mustard Yellow Suedette Biker Jacket – I think mustard yellow is my favourite autumn colour. This jacket is perfect for layering and wearing with a big scarf and bobble hat to keep you warm before you really need to dig out the winter coat.

Fat Face Washed Black Super Skinny Jeans – Fat Face is a company I only really discovered earlier on this year. I know they’ve been around for years but their style is not always a look I’ve gone for. That being said, they make damn good jeans, plus the added bonus is that they are an ethical company.

What’s your wishlist this autumn?
